Billing & Eligibility Processor

This position is based in El Monte, CA.

POSITION TITLE: Billing & Eligibility Processor
DEPARTMENT: Billing & Eligibility

CLASSIFICATION: CLASS III

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs all aspects of updating and maintaining employer and employee master files for specific trust funds. The functions may include daily depositing of employer/employee payments, reconciling and balancing employer reports, determining participant eligibility, collecting and researching data necessary to efficiently administer employer/participant records, understanding and following Collective Bargaining Agreement requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Researching and maintaining Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA), including reciprocity payments, cap payments, special class payments and analyzing/document adjustments.
  2. Maintaining accurate files and efficient systems for researching and adjusting employer/participant records as necessary. Validating dependent status, address updates, carrier elections and annual open enrollment information.
  3. Organizing, completing and maintaining appropriate documentation to support CBA provisions involving contribution rates.
  4. Processing and verifying employer contribution reports. Following the Collective Bargaining Agreements and plan rules in order to determine the accuracy of employer remittances.
  5. Verifying employer payments to amounts billed and researching any discrepancies. Preparing payments for bank deposit if applicable.
  6. Assembling employer reports for “batch” systems. Assigning batch numbers, stamping documents and log payments in Account Receivable reports.
  7. Entering data on-line for all employer batches.
  8. Creating/maintaining employer master file, employer mailing instructions and various pension card files. Setting up new employers, terminating billing of existing employers, updating employers with address changes, benefit packages and billing rates.
  9. Tracking of delinquent employer contributions; assembling data, setting up files, calculating delinquencies and the effect of adjustments on employer and employee records.
  10. Monitoring active participant eligibility and notifying participants of loss of coverage; offering available alternative coverages, setting up monthly billing, record payments and processing monthly eligibility on-line.
  11. Determining eligibility for participation in retiree welfare plans. Setting up retiree billing, recording payments and processing monthly eligibility on-line.
  12. Reviewing monthly exception reports for possible processing corrections and missing data.
  13. Distributing monthly reports, i.e., to providers, union locals, consultants, Account Executives, etc.
